GYM CLASS HEROES BATTLE CHOKEHOLD FROM SUPERTRAMP
Gym Class Heroes have successfully built their As Cruel As School Children up since its release thanks to some outside help. |
Gym Class Heroes are starting to make headway with their latest album, As Cruel As School Children. The band has a lot going for them. Not only have they captured the new media spirit with their video about adding other people as “friends” for myspace.com, they’ve also taken advantage of Fueled By Ramen, classic rock, and a new fun attitude. |
Gym Class Heroes “Cupid’s Chokehold” features main riffs from the Supertramp song “Breakfast In America,” written by Roger Hodgson, and appearances by his Fueled By Ramen cohort Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy in the video for the song and on the track itself. Mainly, vocalist Travis McCoy said the album was more free-spirited. |
“The new record is a lot more fun than the last record. The last record was really, really personal and I felt this time around we wanted to make an album that’s working with summertime. It’s just about a good time. I feel like that’s been missing. I remember albums that meant a lot to me during summertime, and listening to them again it shoots you right back to that summer. This time it was a lot more fun. Working with producers, it was the first time working with producers, and once you get over yourself and you realize that they’re there to help you it makes things a lot easier, you know what I’m saying?” |
“Cupid’s Chokehold” is currently at Number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 tracks, and they continue to be among the most sought after bands on the internet. Gym Class Heroes are currently on a tour of colleges, and they’ve already booked July dates for a tour of Australia. |
