The Used have wrapped up their new album Lies For The Liars, featuring the single “Bird And The Worm,” but the band reveals there may be even more music. Lies For the Liars is set to be released on May 22, but there are several songs that didn’t make the album.

Used bassist and guitarist, Jeph Howard and Quinn Allman, update us on where the album is at, and they share that Used fans will get a wintertime treat.

[Howard] “The album’s already cut.” [Allman] “Yeah it’s cut.” [Howard] “We actually have an EP too. Some of the songs that we play — (to Quinn) Do we play any yet from the EP? — well we’re going to be play some songs that are coming on an EP that’s going to be later this year, probably, or the beginning of next year. But the album is ready, cut, (makes cutting noise).”

The Used’s Bert McCracken may be one of the most enigmatic frontmen in today’s music scene, and many compare him to Ozzy Osbourne. We asked the duo about the comparisons.

[Allman] “I think he’s the one and only Bert McCracken to be honest.” [Howard] “There’s nobody like Bert. I’ve never met another person like him. I’ve never seen…” [Allman] “I’ve never heard Ozzy say the things, I’ve never heard anyone say the things he says on stage. He gets people laughing and getting ready to cry at the same time with the things he says, you know?”

The Used have first-hand experience with Ozzy as they embarked on OzzFest early in their careers. McCracken even got a close look at Ozzy having dated the prince of darkness’s daughter Kelly for a short time. The Used are on a short break before heading to the U.K. for a string of shows later this month.
