HINDER, PAPA ROACH, EXIES RECOGNIZE BUCKCHERRY PLATINUM WORK
At a recent radio show in Houston, Papa Roach, Hinder, and The Exies presented Buckcherry with a plaque commemorating 200 shows performed in support of their album, 15. The band also reached their goal of going platinum with the effort, which commemorates one million albums sold as certified by the RIAA. |
The band told us in an earlier interview that they wouldn’t stop touring until 15 was platinum, and singer Joshua Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson said that it means a lot to them. |
[Todd] “It’s a really big deal for me, and Keith.” [Nelson] “It is. We’re able to go out and make music for a living and support ourselves, and anything after that really is gravy. It’s just shades of grey at that point, but having a platinum record is definitely a goal that I’ve had for a long time.” |
Thanks to the success of “Crazy Bitch” and now the new single “Everything” the band has reached a new level of success, one they couldn’t have imagined when they re-formed the band after a long layoff. The band’s self-titled debut had hit songs like “Lit Up,” but Todd and Nelson are relieved that their current audience is more in-tune with songs off 15. |
“Yeah, in fact there are a lot of people that are coming to our shows that don’t have any other record but 15, a lot. So, I’m having to tell them that we have three records out, so they go and check out what it was like before. So, it’s a lot of fun. We’re getting so many new fans, and like we’ll play some song off the first record, and I’ll be looking out at the audience, and people will be looking at me like it’s foreign to them. It’s just so weird that they don’t even have the first record yet. That’s a great thing. That means you’re really doing well and everybody is into what you’re doing now, and that makes me really happy.” |
Buckcherry is respected by many bands including Hinder, who helped present the plaque to the band for their touring achievement. Hinder is a big fan of the group, and Nelson said he’s a fan of what they’ve been able to achieve with sales and with mainstream airplay. |
[Nelson] “I think it’s kind of refreshing to see a band like Hinder, a great band, have them go out and be able to do what they’re doing with that song [“Lips Of An Angel”]. If this record can follow in those footsteps that would be great.” |
Buckcherry is not stopping. The hardest working band in rock currently has both radio festival and headline dates booked through July 9. Meanwhile, the band’s ringtone for “Crazy Bitch” has surpassed the one million mark in sales. |
