Thomas Haden Church takes us inside Spider-Man’s new arch nemesis.

Thomas Haden Church stars as Flint Marko, a convicted murderer in Spiderman 3 who escapes prison and gets into a horrible radiation accident turning him into Spiderman’s arch nemesis Sandman threatening New York City with his shape shifting abilities.

Church talks about Sandman’s sordid past.

“He spent a number of years in prison for crimes committed against society but then he breaks out of prison for what you think is arch criminal activity but it really there’s a whole undercurrent that’s much more kind of humanely intimate to him.”

Church discusses his first power to surface against Spiderman.

“His initial ability is just to reform himself into a facsimiles state of a human and once he accomplishes that he still has this kind of steady pursuit of saving his daughter. But what becomes apparent is he has various levels of invulnerability.”
