JACKS MANNEQUIN CORPORATE OVER LEUKEMIA
Something Corporate mastermind Andrew McMahon has split off into his alter ego, Jack’s Mannequin, which is very different than his piano infused songwriting for Something Corporate. The new album, Everything In Transit, came out in 2005, but a series of debilitating ailments crippled McMahon and he was unable to support the release with tours or interviews. |
McMahon had been diagnosed with Leukemia, had a stem cell transplant, underwent chemotherapy and battled pneumonia, the combination of which almost killed him. In one of his first interviews since his return to the scene, McMahon talked about his illness and how far he’s come with recovery. |
“You know, we definitely started playing shows as far as locally goes and where ever we can. Because I’m still recovering from doing the stem cell transplant in August, there’s kind of a time-line for when I can actually travel. I can’t fly right now, so it makes it difficult to get to certain places, and I also can’t be on the road for an extended period of time until August probably. Around August, we’ll probably do something more extensive. Up ’till then we’re going to go out to South By Soutwest in March and we’re going to do two extra shows on the way out or the way back from South By Southwest. Also at the very end of March we’re going to go out to New York to do a show in New York City which will be pretty cool. It’ll be just about eleven months from the date I was diagnosed with Leukemia, we will actually be back back in the same city to do a show, which I think is a pretty cool statement. I’m pretty psyched to do that.” |
Jack’s Mannequin is back, scoring a joint venture with the Television series “One Tree Hill” for the video to he single “The Mixed Tape.” Jack’s Mannequin appeared in the show last week, and in return the show had to give something back. |
“We just did a video for “The Mixed Tape,” which features Hillarie Burton from “One Tree Hill,” because we’re also doing a cross-promotion of the soundtrack for One Tree Hill, “The Mixed Tape” being the single for that show. So it’s the first time that any project that I’ve worked on has actually ended up on that webpage, so I’m actually crossing my fingers that we actually get on to the show. It’s my dream to seet his record to succeed on that level where we can really reach the mainstream and really get a lot of people listening to it.” |
Jack’s Mannequin has the first single from the album Music From The WB Television Series One Tree Hill – Volume II: Friends With Benefit, which hit stores on February 7. |
