KITTIE REARS CLAWS, TOUR DATES RELEASED
Kittie vows “Never Again” on their forthcoming CD as they partially seek vindication with their new album Funeral For Yesterday. |
Kittie are returning to the scene February 20, 2007 with a new album titled Funeral For Yesterday. The band has gone through a virtual industry nightmare only to see themselves still embroiled in drama. The latest has the band being sued by Kiss for using the label name “Kiss Of Infamy,” according to AOL music. The band released a digital EP with the title track “Never Again,” which will also be featured on the forthcoming album. |
We asked the girls what inspired the track. |
[Morgan Lander] “Well, ‘Never Again’ is a declaration of our independence and saying, ‘We’re not going to take this anymore. We’re going to stand up and we’re going to fight, and we’re gonna take matters into our own hands and never be walked on again and never have to go through those things and never be the victim.” [Mercedes Lander] “It’s very empowering.” [Morgan] “Yeah, it is. Absolutely. It’s sort of a theme that runs through the songs as well as the death and funeral aspect of things. It all kind of ties in together, you know.” |
So is it safe to say that Funeral For Yesterday is a vindication of past music industry wrongs? |
“I wouldn’t go as far as to say we’re vindictive, but we’ve had a lot of crazy stuff happen to us, and it would be nice to one day say one day that all this suffering paid off and ‘Ha, ha, ha to you.’ It would be nice. The album in its entirety was written during a very dark period, and so there’s obviously a lot of elements of sadness and hopelessness, and that sort of thing….and yeah there is a little bit of vindiction (vindictiveness) there. Absolutely. We’re trying to be as ruthless as possible, you know.” |
Kittie’s new label has now changed from Kiss Of Infamy to X of Infamy in response to the Kiss suit. The band will start a tour with Walls Of Jericho, Dead To Fall, 36 Crazyfists, and In This Moment on February 9 in Connecticut. The incomplete itinerary so far has dates through March 24 in Warren, Michigan. |
