KITTIE TO RETURN IN 2007
Kittie have worked out all their label problems and will be raleasing their brand new effort, Funeral For Yesterday in February/March 2007. The band has been reinvigorated by working with producer Jack Ponti and legendary mixer Kevin Shirley. |
Funeral For Yesterday will be released on their own imprint, Kiss Of Infamy, and Morgan Lander talked about the biggest obstacle in getting the effort completed. |
“The biggest obstacle was finding a good home for the band, finding somewhere that they shared the same vision as us, and they wanted to work as hard as we wanted to work to get the album done, to do what needed to be done to get the word out there. So that was a little bit of a struggle. I guess that’s why there will be a good two years between albums. It’s difficult. There’s lots ot be done, and nobody really wants to listen. That’s never a good time. We managed. We manage. Like I said, persistence.” |
Mercedes and Morgan Lander talked about getting through the last few years, one of the most down periods in Kittie. |
[Mercedes] “I mean, I think every musician has gotten to that point where either you’re not sure if all the hard work you’ve done is paying off in the end. But you know Morgan and I have always been firm believers that if we work hard enough and we want it enough it will happen. Our fans would be heartbroken if we weren’t doing it anymore, and we have to think about them. We have to think about how much fun we have doing it as well. Obviously it would be a lot easier of a decision to not do it if we didn’t have fun and we didn’t enjoy what we did, but We enjoy every aspect of being in this band.” [Morgan] “Sometimes it was getting to be not a lot of fun, and that’s when we had to take some time to reevaluate the situation and refocus ourselves and just try and keep going.” [Mercedes] “Definitely the postive outweighs the negatvie by a lot though.” |
Kittie has sold over 1.2 million units worldwide of their five releases consisting of 3 albums and 2 EPs. The band also now features Tara Mcleod on guitar and Trish Doan on bass. |
