METALLICA CURED, SMOOTH STUDIO EXPERIENCE
Metallica is working on a brand new album, and it’s their first since the release of St. Anger, and the first since the revealing and humanizing documentary about the band, Some Kind Of Monster. |
In that documentary a therapist was seen working with the band to try to get them into a bigger creative space, but drummer Lars Ulrich said that the therapist is no longer needed and that they’ve had an easy time in the studio. |
Metallica has been working with Rick Rubin on the latest effort, which will be completed later this year. Rumor has it that Metallica will be added to this year’s OzzFest line-up but a source close to the band denied those rumors. |
[Ulrich] “We don’t need him anymore. We’re in a great place.” [Hammett]”We’re cured!” [Ulrich] “We have been cured. We’ve been working on the new record for the last three months and it’s been probably the best experience we’ve had writing in as long as I can remember. Everybody’s getting along, everybody’s real respectful and mellow. It started off by us playing a couple of shows opening up for The [Rolling] Stones in November out in San Francisco, and since then we’ve just been on such a great roll. No therapists needed.” |
