VIRGINIA MADSEN NERVOUS TO PLAY VIXEN
Virginia Madsen didn’t think she could pull off playing a vixen in The Number 23. |
Virginia Madsen is doing double duty in The Number 23 playing Jim Carrey’s adoring wife and the sadomasochistic girlfriend of her husband’s alter ego. Although this may sound confusing it actually makes sense in the film where the characters are both real and figments of Carrey’s imagination as he reads the novel entitled The Number 23. |
Virginia talks about playing Fabrizia, a much darker vixen than she is used to playing.< |
“The woman that he loves in real life Agatha becomes this very dark sexual creature in one of the chapters of the book. Her name is Fabrizia and I got to explore a side of myself that I didn’t like very much. I was afraid to be Fabrizia. But I went into head long and it was very exciting.” |
Virginia says she didn’t know she would be playing both roles until she met with director Joel Schumacher. |
“But he says, ‘so how do you feel about the role of Fabrizia and playing two different roles?’ And I kind of went— And he says you do know that you’re meeting us for both women. I was like, ‘that’s fascinating, very challenging.’ I tried to be so cool about it but inside I was like, ‘I can’t do that!’ I thought, ‘well if you’re uncomfortable, that’s the part you should play.’” |
Virginia’s comfort level was also challenged when she had to do a love scene in the film with her ex-husband Danny Huston who she was married to 23 years ago. |
