ROLLING STONES PROVIDE BIGGEST BANG
The Rolling Stones have provided the biggest bang ever as far as concert tours. |
The Rolling Stones latest tour, a Bigger Bang, is now the most successful tour in history. Their tour so far has earned $437 million, over 100 million more than U2’s Vertigo Tour. The Stones are not done, and they expect to tour through 2007 making $500 million a real possibility. |
Mick Jagger said that their success is largely due to the songs. |
“This time, you know, we have new songs. I think that’s very important to keep… You know you have new things, you’re still vibrant, you still have things to say, and all this. The tours themselves are events. The staging is always interesting.” |
Keith Richards said that he still gets excited to play shows. |
“Do I feel excited? Do I have a sense of anticipation. I have a feeling I’m a tiger, and the man is about to open the cage and let me out. That’s the way the way I feel about it.” |
The Rolling Stones tour started August 21, 2005, and it has so far successfully completed 55 shows in North America, 19 shows in Europe, 5 shows in Japan, 1 in China, 2 in Australia, and 2 shows in New Zealand. 2007 dates are expected to be booked, but no official announcement has been made. |
