PAUL STANLEY NOT WORRIED ABOUT GENE TARNISHING KISS
Paul Stanley told us that he’s not worried about Gene Simmons’ sideprojects tarnishing the legacy of Kiss |
Kiss’s Paul Stanley has released Live To Win, his first solo album in 28 years. Meanwhile his bandmate Gene Simmons continues to film his reality TV show, and take advantage of marketing Kiss, which may have alienated some of the band’s fans. Simmons also lost focus with Kiss in the ’80s pursuing an acting career that led him to star opposite Tom Selleck in the film Runaway. |
Stanley talked about some of Gene’s decisions that affected the credibility and productivity of the band. |
“I think all of us have earned the right to do whatever we want outside of the band, and if some of it impacts negatively on the band that’s the price of success. So Gene is free to do whatever he wants. Some of it I think is fine, some of it I scratch my head over, but we did this so that we could do what we want.” |
Stanley added that fans will just have to put judgment aside and grin and bear it for better or worse. |
“Kiss was about us having freedom, and that freedom has to give us freedom to do things outside of Kiss. So whether I agree with everything does at the end of the day you either get Kiss or you don’t. At the end of the day you either get us as individuals or you don’t.” |
Meanwhile, Paul Stanley will grace the cover of Guitar World magazine, and he recently completed a photo shoot for his line of Washburn guitars. Stanley also has a handful of art show dates, where he’ll display and sell his paintings. Check back in the next few weeks for details and Paul’s view on his “art” career. |
