MARIO SAYS SHOOTING NEW MOVIE WAS EMOTIONAL
R and B singer Mario says shooting Freedom Writers was a very emotional experience….. |
R&B singer Mario is one of the stars of the new movie, Freedom Writers, which also stars Hilary Swank, Patrick Dempsey, and Scott Glenn. The film, which chronicles a teacher’s struggle to inspire a group of at-risk kids, raked in $9.4 million its first weekend in theaters. |
Mario explained how shooting the movie was very emotional from the first day he stepped foot on set. The singer said, |
“It was even emotional like the first day I came to set. The first day I got to the Paramount lot and we went into the room. All the main characters were sitting aorund the table and like it was just emotional being there, hearing the different stories about their real life. Like how we all had something in common. Whether it be the way we grew up, where we are now in our lives, whatever it may have been. But we just had so much in common. To me that right there was emotional because I hadn’t been around my peers in so long. Doing what I do, I’m constantly working. I’m constantly in the studio. I’m constantly touring and traveling. So I’m not always around my peers and to be around my peers and to hear some of their stories and what they’ve been through. It’s like damn like I’m back to reality.” |
In related news, Mario will release his third solo album, Go, on April 4th. The album will feature guest appearances by Akon, Nelly, and Alicia Keys with production by Scott Storch, the Neptunes, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. The new album was initially titled, Mario Barrett – Effortless, but the singer decided to switch titles. |
