DMX IS STICKING TO THE PLAN
Earlier this month, multi-platinum rapper DMX made the jump from Def Jam Records to the Sony Music Group. The rapper plans to release his new album, Here We Go Again, this May. The album was initially recorded while he was signed to Def Jam Records but after several false starts Def Jam president Jay-Z allowed the rapper to leave the label with his completed album. |
At his New York press conference to announce the label switch, DMX shared that he doesn’t plan on changing his approach to making albums. The rapper said, |
“I mean my take on it is if it ain’t broke don’t fix, you know what I’m sayin’? I’ve always managed to give you a few stories. You know a few joints were I just talk s**t. You know there’s always a conversation with the Lord, always a prayer, you know pretty much a well-rounded album, you know. That’s what I do everytime. That’s all I can do.” |
DMX plans to revamp Here We Go Again with producer Swizz Beatz who was recently named president of Ruff Ryders Entertainment. |
The rapper was previously signed to Sony’s Columbia Records in 1992 when he released the single, “Born Loser,” the record failed to make an impact and he was later released from the label. |
DMX’s last studio release was 2003’s platinum, Grand Champ |
