PIERCE BROSNAN BRAVES THE RAPIDS
Pierce Brosnan shows he doesn’t need the name James Bond to have movie adventures. |
James Bond has got nothing on the mountain man adventurer that Pierce Brosnan plays in Seraphim Falls. One scene called for Pierce to ride the rapids in the frigid waters of the McKensie River in Oregon. |
He describes what it felt like to be fiercely dragged by the raging river. |
Pierce: “We shot that in Oregon. Liam: The McKensie River. Pierce: McKensie. It was the dead of winter. It was a primordial kind of landscape, ferocious hydraulics in that water. I didn’t go over. Mark Vanselow, he did it. But I was in the water, he did the drop and then the next day they put me on wires and I went out into the maul of the beast. It just picks you up fast, you’re on wires and you hope the wires work and you hope the Gods are with you.” |
Liam Neeson was on the sidelines cheering him on as the stunt was a dangerous one, but Pierce felt safe enough to pull it off. |
Liam: “Oh I was very warm in my nice big padded coat. That was cool water I’m telling you. Pierce: Many a slip between cup and lip. But thank God nothing happened and everybody came away in one piece. But it looks great. If you can do a stunt like that the best thing is to put yourself in there and if you feel lucky and often you feel you’re surrounded by good people. Liam: We had a great team.” |
Pierce prefers to live out his adventures on the big screen. Oddly enough his family live right near the ocean and he’s never even been on a boogey board. |
