Rapper Consequence, who was first introduced to world while appearing on A Tribe Called Quest’s 1996 release, Beats, Rhymes & Life, will finally get his chance to release his solo album. Consequence is now signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label and will release his debut, Don’t Quit Your Day Job, on March 6th GOOD Music/Sony. |
The album will feature production by Kanye West, Notch from the Teamsters; Young Lord, Kilo Kain, and Devo Springsteen with a guest appearance by John Legend. |
” I could have definitely worked with anybody, the who’s who. You know I know every producer damn near. I worked with every rapper in some capapcity. I mean a lot of people would think, ‘You know Puff, why ain’t you get Puff, Busta, Tip, everybody and their mama on your record? What I was trying to sell was a message and a movement and so having other people kinda….too many of people inclusive in that wouldstray away from what I was trying to say with Don’t Quit Your Day Job.” |
Consequence, who is Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest’s cousin, explained his decision to keep the project mostly in house. He said, |
The first single and video from the project is “Callin’ Me.” The song featured Consequence’s animated mascot who is called Little Consequence. The mascot will also be featured on the cover of the new album. |
