Tom Morello, AKA The Nightwatchman concluded his residency at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles February 6th, benefiting his Axis of Justice Foundation. Morello has gathered an amazing list of friends at his Nightwatchman residency including Serj Tankian, Perry Farrell, Nuno Bettencourt, Jill Sobule, Jon Foreman from Switchfoot and others. For the last Axis of Justice show Morello was joined by none other than Ben Harper, Sen-Dog and B Real of Cypress Hill, Shooter Jennings, Shaun Morgan of Seether and Dave Kushner of Velvet Revolver. |
We caught up with Tom Morello to discuss Axis of Justice, feeding the hungry and getting fans involved in grass roots political organizations so they can begin to change the world forever. |
“We’ve got programs to feed and cloth the homeless and hungry in LA because in addition to organizing and educating I think it’s important to give back and serve people on the bottom rung of the economic ladder. The principle thing that we do is we help fans of music get involved in grass roots political organizations so they can begin standing up, where they live and where they work and where they go to school to change the world for the better because you can’t wait around for your president to do it, because he ain’t gonna.” |
Tom Morello’s debut solo album as The Nightwatchman, One Man Revolution, which was produced by Brendan O’Brien, will be released April 24th. ‘One Man Revolution’ features thirteen songs all written by Morello but for the first time Tom is the lead vocalist as well. The Nightwatchman will be performing at Coachella this year along side another famous band you might have heard of, Rage Against The Machine. Morello, De La Rocha and the boys have put aside their differences for an as of yet ‘One Off’ at Coachella, however Morello has mentioned he is possibly up for more Rage shows in the future. Stay Tuned for an incredible summer of music. |
