The Plain White T’s are generating a lot of buzz on their latest relase ‘Every Second Counts’ and the bands hit single ‘Hate (I Really Don’t Like You)’ has been turning heads to the point The Plain White T’s even took home the coveted MTvU Woodie Award for Best New Artist. |
We recently caught up with the DeMar, Tim and Dave of the Plain White T’s to discuss their hit single and even though it doesn’t sound like it, the song is really just a love song. |
“It’s not hateful. Yeah, it’s not hateful at all. It’s really a love song. Because all I wanted was your love and that’s really the best line of the song and that really ties it all up. That’s why I don’t like you because I wanted your love and for whatever reason I didn’t get it. What reasons? Because your a 17 year old and immature. It happens to the best of us. And a liar. Hey Dave watch it. I don’t even know her, I’m just talking trash.” |
So was the song inspired by an old love or are the lyrics just hypothetical for many relationships from the past? |
“It was about someone in particular. A wonderful young lady that things didn’t work out and she’s still a friend and she’s cool. Actually a lot of our songs aren’t really as intense or serious as they might seem. But you get inspired and you kind of run with it, you know.” |
So after winning the MTvU Woodie Award for Best New Artist and beating out The Artic Monkeys, Imogen Heap and ChaMillionaire the band is poised for a huge 2007. The Plain White T’s are set to open for OK GO in Europe in early 2007, before returning to the US for the first headining tour. |
“Yeah we’ll definitely be home for the holidays. Actually today in about four hours we’re flying home to spend the holidays with friends and family. And January we are going to the UK for the first time ever and then back to Germany and then to the States for our first headlining tour.” |
