ROBIN WILLIAMS SHOWS PENGUINS THE LOVE
Robin Williams thinks he’s all that as the little Latino penguin Ramon who befriends Mumble, the dancing Emperor penguin outcast from his family and takes him under his little wing in Happy Feet. Robin met with a penguin to do research for his role and talks about why we’re so crazy about these odd looking birds. |
Robin takes on the dual role of the spirit warrior Lovelace channeling the voice of Barry White. Together with Ramon and his amigos and Mumble they set out to find where all the fish have gone. Robin says there’s also an ecological message in Happy Feet to save the earth’s ocean from pollution. |
“They say that because they’re social, and they mate for life unlike humans. And they’re very much about the group and the ability to transfer; just the sheer connection they show for each other is very powerful. And they look so cute until you get them in person. Then if they overheat their eyes get red and they peck you. But you have to keep them in a certain temperature zone. But people love the fact that they’re so true and loyal and playful.” |
As the penguin Ramon Robin sings My Way with a Latin flavor in Happy Feet opening today in theaters.rn |
“With Lovelace he’s got a six pack wing around his neck which he thinks is a gift. The spirits have touched me I know I’m gifted. But in the end it starts to choke him to death. The problem is the world dumps more and more of it’s garbage. The ocean can not absorb it all, especially the stuff that doesn’t degrade. You get out in the open ocean and you see stuff floating all over everywhere and it has an affect.” |
