HINDER KEEPS LIPS SEALED ON SONGWRITING INSPIRATIONS
Hinder keeps songwriting inspirations behind closed doors, but that doesn’t prevent those close from guessing ‘Is that about me?’ |
Hinder is currently touring the country on the strength of two very different songs, “Get Stoned,” a bone fide rocker and “Lips Of An Angel,” a true rock ballad that is racing up the pop and CHR charts. |
Hinder draws upon real people and real events for inspiration, and we asked them if some of their friends and relatives come up to them and go, ‘Was that song about me?’ |
[Vocalist Austin Winkler] “Uh, yeah, sometimes. You know, what do you say? Maybe. Maybe not. You can’t specifically say, ‘yes’, but deep down they know what the song is about and who it’s about.” [Drummer Cody Hanson] “I’ve definitely had a few of those for sure.” [Winkler] “Whatever you think it’s about, darling. Sure.” [Hanson] “Take it how you want. Get out of my face.” |
Hinder was asked if women who find out they’re the inspiration for some of the band’s songs actually get mad. |
[Winkler] “Not over songs or anything. Maybe about one night stands and we didn’t call ’em back and they get furious, you know? (laughs) but not over songs or anything like that. So, I guess we’re lucky.” [Hanson] “The ones for me are always really proud of it, actually. They feel like they achieved something and people kind of know their story or something like that.” |
Hinder’s latest CD, Extreme Behavior, is currently at Number 11 on the Billboard 200 album charts after peaking last week at Number 6. |
