COMMON LAUNCHES HIGH END HAT LINE
Common jumps into the world of fashion with high-end hat line……. |
Rapper and aspiring actor Common is busy man these days. The rapper will launched his Soji high end hat line on Wednesday, January 23rd, in New York City. Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashied Lynn, get some help presenting the high end hats from his friends Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys, Jeremy Piven and others. The hats will be available exclusively at La Coppola Storta stores which are located in Palermo, Roma, Firenze, Bologna, and New York City’s SOHO district. |
Common explained his decision to get into the hat business. He said, “I love hats man, I been wearing them for so long and people always ask me where I get my hats from. So, why not just design something. I want to keep it high-end and quality on the hat side.” |
“That commercial is a blessing. I really am grateful to be able to be a part of that Gap campaign. First and foremost because, you know, it allowed me as an artist and what I stand for, my message to be heard on a broader scale. More people are aware of me now. I mean I have people greet me on the street and be like, ‘That’s the dude from the Gap commercial.’ They don’t even know I’m Common. They just know, ‘Oh that’s that guy from the Gap commercial,’ ’cause there’s people that don’t listen to hip hop. There’s people that our into event he hip hop that I do.” |

In related news, Common will make his big screen debut later this month as an assassin named Sir Ivy in the new movie, Smokin Aces. The film also stars Ben Affleck, Alicia Keys, Taraji Henson, Jeremy Piven, Andy Garcia, Ray Liotta, and Jason Bateman. It opens nationwide on January 26th. |
In addition to finishing his seventh album Finding Forever, Common has landed a role in another upcoming film, American Gangster, which stars Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, RZA, and T.I. The film is slated to hit theaters later this year. |
