MATTHEW MODINE MEETS HIS WIFE AS A CHEF

Matthew Modine stars in Kettle of Fish as a jazz musician who is searching for Ms. Right but just can’t seem to connect and will do whatever it takes to get her attention including becoming an elevator operator in the building where she lives. In real life Matthew has found his Mrs. Right and the happy couple has been married for 27 years. Matthew met Cari when she came to buy take-out in the fancy restaurant where he was a chef.

Being married for so long is an enigma in Hollywood circles and Matthew can’t understand why it works but he’s not complaining.

“So I came out of the kitchen wearing my chef outfit and my checkered pants and told her to go to the deli down the street down to Sarge’s. When I saw her I was completely smitten. It was love at first sight. I kind of couldn’t speak and I said, ‘how many did you want? One order, two orders?’ Then I saw her on the street about two days later and I told her I wasn’t doing anything that I was free, ‘why don’t you go have lunch with me.’ Of course I was supposed to be working as a chef at a restaurant and you can’t not show up for work and I didn’t so I got fired and then rehired. This woman who I met is my wife now all these years later.”

Matthew and Cari have extended their love with their two children Boman and Ruby. Kettle of Fish is currently playing in theaters.rn

“Yeah I don’t even like to talk about it because I don’t want to jinx it. It’s strange how these things work. I remember Charlie Sheen saying, I don’t know how many marriages he’s been through but he said, ‘women are like cars, sometimes you get a lemon.’ He must’ve been looking at the mirror of himself when he said it because there are a lot of guys that are lemons too. Sometimes you get lucky and I found a Rolls Royce that is just dependable and beautiful and just gets better with age.”
