THE LIBRARIAN GOES WHERE NO FILM CREW HAS GONE BEFORE
Star Trek: The Next Generation star and Star Trek: First Contact director Jonathan Frakes has taken his film crew where no crew has gone before while shooting The Librarian: Return of King Solomon’s Mines. |
Most of the scenes were shot in Cape Town South Africa and Kenya. |
“We shot in places where film crews don’t usually go. We’ve shot in places where people are on safari so they go to vacation so that’s talented. You’re always in danger of losing your day because of the weather. We’ve been blessed with incredible weather. It’s hard shooting a movie where people speak six, seven different languages. In Kenya there must’ve been three or four different languages. Down here there are three or four different languages. And all those elements somehow we’ve managed to overcome. So it’s been a challenge. The hours have been insane as I’m sure you’ve heard, 17 hour days is not something every body loves and seven day weeks. But what we’re getting by coming here has been worth every minute of it.” |
Despite the lengthy shooting schedule Jonathan has become known in the industry as two takes Frakes for his usually incredible speed while filming. |
