VERA FARMIGA BRAVES BRITISH COLD FOR FILM

Vera Farmiga had to brave Britain’s frigid temperatures wearing a skimpy costume playing a prostitute in Breaking and Entering.

Part of the job of playing a prostitute in a film is that your wardrobe doesn’t exactly keep you warm which is what The Departed star Vera Farmiga was faced with while shooting her scenes in frigid London.

As a Romanian hooker who seduces Jude Law in Breaking and Entering Vera says she wanted the audience to feel her chilly discomfort.

“I was hanging out on set. I was hanging out. It was so cold, it was bitter cold and they had lots of warmies around. It’s hard to act cold. And I wanted that shiver. I wanted you to feel for Oana and I wanted it to be an authentic shiver in my body and I wanted you to hear the chatter of my teeth so the best way to do that is to be cold. So I was just there in the alley way waiting to come out.”

Several scenes were shot inside the tiny space of Jude’s sports car which meant Vera had to carefully negotiate where her legs would go in such a tight squeeze.

“Exactly how you see it. However way you can move in stilettos and fish nets and skirts to here and a big fur coats and a mane of hair that’s in a tangle. You sort of figure it out as you’re doing it.”

Vera obviously hasn’t had enough of the cold as she’s heading off to snowy Park City Utah for the Sundance film festival to pitch Never Forever to distributors.
