LINKIN PARK BENNINGTON WRITES OFF MUSIC
Linkin Park is currently writing their follow-up to the multi-platinum Meteora, and vocalist Chester Bennington said he likes to wall himself off, particularly from music. The band is working on their new album, which Bennington hopes to have done later this year. |
Recently, backstage at the Grammy Awards, he revealed two things: one that he’s easily influenced by other people’s music and two that he may be the worst music consumer, ever. |
“Well quite honestly I don’t really buy records or listen to music while I’m writing because I tend to find that I write songs or write melodies that sound similar to the bands that I’m listening to. I think The Killers had a great record. I think they made a fantastic album. Z-Trip I think put out a really great record it was a really underground kind of thing that was really, really amazing. Really,I don’t do anything. I’m the worst music consumer, ever.” |
Linkin Park is not exactly in the studio at this point and they have a rather unconventional way of working. With Mike Shinoda supporting Fort Minor, and the rest of the band doing their thing, they create ideas and songs by exchanging files and working off each others parts. It’s not until later in the process that they’ll get together and start hashing things out. |
