DRAKE BELL TO RING IN NEW YEARS, 2006 ABOUT CAR CRASH
Drake Bell has released his first CD titled It’s Only Time, but he was almost not alive to see its release. |
Drake Bell will be performing as part of Fox-TV’s New Year’s Eve special performing his tune “I Know,” and sticking around as a special correspondent. Bell released his album, It’s Only Time, on December 9, and the album is a triumphant expression of his experiences including his almost fatal car crash in 2005. |
2006 has been about healing his wounds and resurrecting his music and acting careers. He talked about what he went through with the crash. |
“Getting in that car accident last year and being wired shut for three months and not eating, being on all liquids and your face just being completely broken and not knowing, having six missing teeth, this cut went all the way through my mouth, I couldn’t walk anwhere, do anything, I was on medication. It was all just a horrible, horrible time. Not even knowing if you’re going to be OK or if you’re going to be deformed or what you’re going to look like, if you’re ever going to sing, ever going to act.” |
He also shared how the experience impacted his songwriting. |
“Once I started getting better, it started just inspiring more positive songs and more, ‘Hey, look it’s going to be OK. You’re going to make it through. Stop and smell the flowers because it can all just be taken away like that so when I went to do this record that’s kind of the vibe we wanted to put out there.” |
Bell was stopped at a red light while driving a friend around Los Angeles on the Pacific Coast Highway. He was hit head on by a driver and suffered a cracked skull, lacerations, and a broken neck but it was not considered life threatening. |
