Josh Duhamel stars in Turistas as a backpacking college student making his way across the Brazilian jungle when all of a sudden he confronts the vacation from hell.

He talked about the shocking transition.

“In the beginning there’s this Rio where people sort of think about Brazil and Rio. This sexy music and sexy bikinis and Brazilian music and all that kind of stuff to get and all of a sudden it takes this turn that becomes the vacation from hell basically.”

Josh and company are imprisoned by a military group with a very bloody agenda. The film which can be described as Hostel in the Amazon takes its toll on Josh and his female co-stars as they are robbed of everything including their shoes.

“They took not only our cell phones, pass ports, money, jewelry, everything; we decided that they took our shoes too which we realized quickly was a mistake because we had to do the rest of the movie in our bare feet and walking through the jungles and through the favellas of Brazil isn’t fun. But doing it that way I feel like it made it feel real because every step literally became, the longer we went the more painful it was. We actually had this little fake things made about halfway through, these little, they look like real feet over the top of your bare feet that you can’t tell the difference. Everybody’s feet were torn up by the end of the two or three weeks in.”

It seems that Josh hasn’t enough of Brazil as he plans on spending the holidays with his girlfriend Stacy Ferguson of The Black Eyed Peas in Rio. Turistas opens today in theaters.
