JAMES BLUNT AND JASON MRAZ MAKE GREAT TEAM

Jason Mraz and James Blunt have become quite a team. Both are on Atlantic Records, and late last year Mraz, who was supporting his album Mr. A-Z took Blunt around the country on tour, and showed him what was possible.

The songwriter showed up at Blunt’s Los Angeles coming out party at the House Of Blues last week, and he revealed that he’s actually opening for the U.K. superstar overseas.

“Yeah, he stayed with us over here in the fall and rode with us on the bus, and we had a great time. We did, I don’t know how many shows together. And then we take off the whole month of February and early March over in the U.K, Ireland Scotland as well, doing the same thing over there but role reversed.”

Blunt has become a hot commodity now that his single, “You’re Beautiful” is topping the charts worldwide. Mraz was asked what it was about Blunt’s songs and performances that make him special.

“Songwriting wise I think it’s the way he can say what he needs to say, simply, quickly and get out. Sometimes I have a tendency to just keep running my mouth, keep running my mouth and keep running my mouth and confuse everyone — and you end up contradicting yourself in so many ways — whereas James, he’s just like, ‘You’re Beautiful,” and he walks away and takes his shirt off or something, you know?”

Mraz is currently in the U.K. opening op for James Blunt, and he’ll be doing so through March 7.
