The 49th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night, February 11th, was Ludacris’ coming out party as the rapper took home two Grammy Awards including best rap song for “Money Maker” featuring Pharrell Williams and best rap album for Release Therapy. During his acceptance speech, Ludacris joked about his new look. He said, |
Ludacris also had a special shout-out for two of his past detractors. He said, |
“So ya’ll telling me all I had to do was cut my hair to win thebest rap album. That’s what ya’ll telling me. Mr. LA Reid I sat in your office and I told you this was mine right here. I told you that. Thank you LA Reid, Def Jam Universal staff, Mr. Shawn Carter of course Jay-Z, Steve Bartels, my whole Disturbing Tha Peace family.” |
Ludacris has been at odds with O’Reilly since the talk show host had him dropped by Pepsi as a spokesperson. Luda’s beef with Oprah Winfrey stems from her allegedly ambushing him when he was appearing with the cast of Crash on her show. Winfrey allegedly edited out several comments Ludacris made in defense of rap music. |
“Special shout to Oprah and special shout to Bill O’Reilly, I love ya. This goes out to my father. This goes out to my father who is in critical condition right now. I appreciate your prayers. Mr. Wayne Bridges I love you to death.” |
The two Grammy wins weren’t the first for Ludacris because he won a Grammy in 2004 in the best rap/ song collaboration category for “Yeah!” with Usher and Lil Jon. But they had to feel extra sweet as they reflected an overall appreciation for his work. |
Ludacris celebrated the Grammy wins with a party at Social Hollywood club. The party was so packed that the rapper’s mother almost couldn’t get into the venue. The event was attended by Queen Latifah, Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Kevin Federline, Nick Lachey, Chris Tucker, and Quentin Tarantino. |
