CORINNE BAILEY RAE WANTS TO WRITE GOOD SONGS, NOT WIN
Corinne Bailey Rae always wanted to be creative and write good songs, not win Grammy Awards, although 3 noms isn’t bad |
Corinne Bailey Rae has been nominated for three 2007 Grammy Awards including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for her single ‘Put Your Records On.’ On the strength of her self titled debut release, Corinne’s soulful vocal dominance evokes memories of jazz legend Billie Holliday and her song writing ability has been gathering world wide critical acclaim. |
It’s been quite an incredible year for Rae who admitted at the Grammy Nominations Ceremony that she never had Grammy aspirations as a beginning musician she just wanted to be creative and write good songs. |
“I wanted to write songs and I wanted to play in front of audiences but I didn’t really have those types (Grammy) of aspirations. I had creative ambitions, I wanted to write good songs and that’s still how I feel. I just want to write good music. All the other things that come, they’re an added bonus, but I think you aim for the creative side of it and see what happens.” |
Corinne Bailey Rae, besides being nominated for Best New Artist and Song of the Year is also up for Record of the Year. It has been announced recently that Corinne Bailey Rae will be releasing her first ever live DVD with ‘Live in London and New York.’ The DVD will include a performance at St Luke’s in London, documentary footage and her videos to date, along with a CD of Corinne playing live at New York’s Webster Hall. |
