JACK JOHNSON ROOTING AGAINST SELF FOR GRAMMYS
Jack Johnson is nominated for two Grammys for this year’s awards show taking place February 8 live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Johnson is up for Best Pop Vocal Collaboration for the song “Gone Going” with the Black Eyed Peas, but it’s the other nomination he’s stoked about. |
Johnson is up for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance against some of his childhood heroes, and he’s still in disbelief. |
“Yeah, it means… It’s something that I never ever thought would happen. It blows my mind a little bit. It makes you feel a little bit… I can’t help but, everytime something bigger happens, feel like, ‘Oh shoot somebody’s going to find out pretty soon that this is all a little bit too crazy.’ I’ve always felt like that and you can’t help but add to that when you get put in the same nomination thing as Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. I think someone meant to say Jackson Browne, not Jack Johnson, I think. But it’s cool. It’ really flattering. I’m excited about it. I hope Stevie takes it.” |
Meanwhile, Jack Johnson was chosen as the songwriter for the animated picture Curious George, which is set to hit theaters February 10. Check back later this week for Jack’s thoughts about the writing process for the movie, and how his writing changed for the picture. |
