(VIDEO) Taylor Hicks won American Idol, and Red Hot Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis dismisses fears that it’s hurting the industry.

Taylor Hicks became the new American Idol on Wednesday night, beating out Katherine McPhee to win the honor. While Hicks is the unlikely idol, there are some who think that the show got it wrong.

There are also some people who think that American Idol is ruining the music industry. Anthony Kiedis, singer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers who own the Number One album in the land for a second week in a row, said that he doesn’t think that a TV contest makes much of a difference.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to hit the road May 30 in Barcelona, Spain. The first single from the album is “Dani California.”
