SCOTT CAAN HAIR RULES
Scott Caan’s hair took on a life of it’s own in Brooklyn Rules. |
Scott Caan stars in Brooklyn Rules as Carmine, the wanna be gangster based on one of Sopranos writer Terence Winter’s best buddies who grew up on the same block and remained lifelong friends. |
Scott had a very specific look in mind for the character who forbid anybody to mess with his hair. |
“It was very important that the guy had a pompadour right in the movie and I really wanted to do this movie and I didn’t know that they were making it anymore. I went away for a while and then Michael called me and said, ‘we’re gonna make this movie’ and he hired me. And after he hired me I said, ‘by the way I shaved my head a couple of weeks ago.’ It was really dramatic so we had to tease it and pull at it to make it look the first week of shooting. Does it look a pompadour? Is it working yet?” |
Co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. says the ribbing that the buddies give Caan on screen for his perfectly coiffed locks continued off screen as well. |
“He needed theme music with that hair. I just wanted to play Stayin’ Alive or something as he would walk onto the set. It was beautiful and he really just embraced the character and it became him in real life. When we would walk the streets and go to get like a Cuban sandwich or something on a weekend and he would look exactly the same as he did on set. Me I’m trying to dress nice and wear a suit and I enjoy the it feels and I’m sitting here with Silvio eating a pork sandwich so it was an experience but one that I wouldn’t trade.” |
Freddie, Scott and Jerry Ferrara still remain close friends and still give Scott a hard time about his hair. |
