Earlier this year, Mary J. Blige grabbed three Grammy Awards and nine Billboard Awards for her chart-topping album, The Breakthrough, which the star released in December 2005. She followed that release with a greatest hits package, Reflections (A Retrospective), last year. |
Blige is currently in between projects but she hasn’t stop recording. 2006 Mixshow deejay of the year, J. Period, is currently working on an exclusive three disc mixtape with the singer. Period said, |
“Currently I’m working on…I just finished a project with Joss Stone, another Biggie tribute mixtape, Mary J Blige mixtape which is huge. I did a three CD mixtape with Mary, exclusive tracks, interviews. Basically on mission to blow the Lauryn Hill mixtape out of the water. That should be coming out some time this year.” |
No official release date has been set for the mixtape. |

Blige, who appears with her husband Kendu Isaacs on one of two covers offered in Essence magazine’s June issue, will be honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) during its 20th Anniversary Rhythm & Soul Music Awards on June 25th at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. |
