PIRATES STAR DISCOVERS DAVY JONES’ TRUE LOVE

After three films, Bill Nighy finally figures out what gets Davy Jones’ heart pounding.

Davy Jones has always been a tragic figure in Pirates of The Caribbean but we were never sure why he was so wounded which is all explained in At World’s End.

The squid faced pirate played by Bill Nighy is madly and deeply in love with Tia Dalma and finally faces the truth about his future with the goddess.

“Speaking as a squid, a love scene wasn’t something I was expecting. I didn’t see it on the horizon at all. But there is a kind of love thing going on there. To play a love scene with Naomie Harris even as a squid is a very satisfying part of my job. It’s great and it deepens the story. It’s a rich tale and it makes everything kind of hang and makes sense of the some of the stuff that might’ve mystified you earlier.”

Bill says the audience will discover why Davy Jones was so heartbroken, and why his heart was kept in a treasure chest under lock and key.

“From my point of view it’s a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for Davy Jones. He was always in trouble but now he seems to be in more trouble than averagely. The love pain that he experienced was so extreme that resulted in him ripping his own heart from his chest continues to dog him and the turmoil is extreme. And it’s very, very satisfying to play. It’s not just the villain guy who comes in to scare everybody. He also has some other story so it’s a wonderful character.”

It still remains to be seen what character Bill Nighy will do next. He is in negotiations with Bryan Singer for his next thriller about a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler.
