BEN KINGSLEY KILLS EM WITH KNIVES AND GUNS

For his role in You Kill Me, Ben Kingsley mastered the art of knife throwing and gun shooting.

Ben Kingsley stars in the black comedy You Kill Me playing a hit man for the Polish mob who is suffering from alcohol addiction and it’s beginning to affect his work.

His character becomes sloppy with his killings so he is forced to go to Alcoholics Anonymous to get back on track. In the meantime he falls in love with Tea Leoni and practices his knife throwing skills with her. Ben says he taught Tea everything she knows.

“Of course I did. She’ll be grateful to me for the rest of her life for her expertise with flatware, tableware. The first time I threw it, it hit the watermelon and bounced back and hit my own hand. In fact you’re the first person I’ve told but yeah it whacked me back in the hand. There was a lot of force behind that. Then I practiced again and I did get some to stick in. They were great scenes. I love that dance we used. It was like a tango, beautiful.”

In the 90 films that Sir Ben has shot, You Kill Me required him to master shooting a gun.

“I think I shot a gun once in The Sherlock Holmes film, the lovely comedy. But yeah I went to the firing range. I practiced. I was with a coach who loved weapons so it was interesting to be with that kind of a man who would describe the number of working parts in the guns. He loved them. So I got that information from him and my firing range I was very successful. I was very good actually. I hit a target many times. I haven’t shot anybody since the film, no.”

You Kill Me which also stars Luke Wilson and Bill Pullman opens Friday in theaters.
