RATS RUN THE RESTAURANT

The animated film Ratatouille have rats running a famous French restaurant.

Only in the world of Pixar could a pack of rats take over the finest French restaurant in Paris and actually become sous chefs there in the film Ratatouille.

Art has recently imitated life as rodents have been discovered in some of America’s eating establishments running rampant but in the movies they can get away with it. Rat patriarch Django played by Death of a Salesman Tony winner Brian Dennehy rats out the story.

“My son, one of 250 sons that I have, Remy has decided he’s interested in cooking and wants to be a chef, wants to learn about cooking. Of course we are scavengers and the last thing anybody wants to see in a kitchen especially in a well known restaurant in Paris is a rat. Certainly not a pack of rats. So therein lies the tension.”

Remy is voiced by Patton Oswalt, most recently seen as Doug’s bumble headed best friend on television’s The King Of Queens.

“The thing I like most about Remy is he is who he is. There’s no half measures in his passions. He is all the way committed to what he loved, even if it costs him in the short run. He’s all about long term goals. He believes and has faith and doesn’t give up on himself and doesn’t give up on the people around him even when life itself seems to be giving up on him.”

Ratatouille directed by Brad Bird who also did Meet The Incredibles, opens Friday in theaters.
