CELEBRITY CHEF COOKS UP DISHES FOR RATATOUILLE
The producer of Ratatouille brought in a celebrity chef to make authentic dishes come alive. |
Several trips were made to France to study authentic Parisian restaurant fare and many recipes were stolen for the dishes that are stirred up in Ratatouille. |
Even celebrity chef Thomas Keller of the famed Per Se was consulted by the producer to create Gusteaus, the Pixar-created bistro with a selection of 12 savory dishes. |
“Brad Lewis came to us just to try and get some technical information about how a kitchen was organized, the hierarchy of the restaurant and the different positions throughout the kitchen. What it looked like, what it felt like; the energy, the dynamic; how people work together and move around the kitchen, the dance as what we call it in our restaurant. And of course that led onto other things where we’d get into details about recipes and actually how food should look when it’s plated. And different cuts and how things were sliced and placed.” |
Since the audience can’t taste or smell Keller’s creations, director Brad Bird used music like rounder notes for cheese, lighter notes for strawberries and bursts of colors that swirl up and around the dishes. |
