JOSH DUHAMEL LOVES TRANSFORMER CARS
This is a Transformers holiday weekend box office story, but there’s good stuff about the dangers on the set! |
Josh Duhamel stars as Sergeant Lennon joining forces with the Autobots waging war against the Decepticons, led by Megatron in Transformers. |
Director Michael Bay who continues his association with General Motors from Bad Boys 2 and Armageddon got his starring vehicles such as the Pontiac Solstice as Jazz, a Hummer H2 as search and rescue Ratchet, and the Camaro winning the role from the original yellow Volkswagon Beetle as Bumblebee. Josh was very impressed. |
“The first time I saw the Camaro that turned into Bumblebee, this Transformer. First of all I couldn’t believe they built it. I couldn’t believe they actually built an actual 40 foot robot sitting there in the back of this truck. Yeah I was pretty blown away by the amount of work and preparation that went into this and I think that that’s probably one of the most impressive things about Michael Bay to me is his attention to detail and the amount of preparation that he puts into everyone in the movie.” |
The GMC TopKick pick up truck starring as Ironhide is Duhamel’s favorite. |
“You got to go with Optimus Prime from the 80s because that was like the leader of the group. In this one I think Ironhide is probably my favorite because it’s a really bad ass looking truck and I don’t know if I say that because I have a black truck myself and I sort of have an affinity for that one, I don’t know. I was just thinking about, OK if I were a kid, and I wanted one of these toys, the first one that I would buy, the first one that I would save up for would be Ironhide. Just because it’s this truck that, ‘pph, pph.’” |
Not all the cars were camera ready. The Solstice had to be redesigned from its convertible model to a gray hard top for Jazz. Optimus Prime is 32 feet tall and made of 10,108 parts with each one modeled and painted whenever they came in for their close-up. |
