VERA FARMIGA ADORES JOSHUA CO-STARS

Vera Farmiga went from playing a therapist to detectives in The Departed to the mother of a troubled young boy in Joshua.

Vera says she identified with her character Abby Cairn, and when she heard Sam Rockwell was playing her husband, that cinched the deal for her.

“I immediately had an empathy, a great sympathy for Abby even though she wasn’t the ultimate devoted wife and loving mother. Abby was very, very real to me and her situation was very real. I had to play it, it’s funny you draw certain scripts to you at a time and Sam Rockwell was a part of it. I heard that he was attached. And I needed no further coaxing, none.”

Vera had nothing but wonderful things to say about her young co-star Jacob Kogan playing her son Joshua in the film, gushing over him as if she was his real mother.

“Jay he’s an amazing kid. He’s lived a million lives by the ripe old age of 10 or 11, whatever he is now. This kid’s gonna be president by the next election. He’s so sharp, razor sharp. He’s very smart, very articulate, very intuitive. He’s a special kid.”

Next Vera stars in Never Forever, this time playing a married woman who hires a South Korean immigrant worker to impregnate her when her husband is sterile, but their union becomes more than just a business deal. rn
