MARTIN SHEEN TALKS UP HUMANITY
Martin Sheen says Talk To Me shows alot of humanity for the lead character Petey Green. |
Martin Sheen stars in Talk To Me as the station manager of a Washington, DC radio station who is bamboozled into shaking up his urban music programming with some honest talk from an ex-con named Petey Green in Talk To Me. |
Martin says it’s a story about humanity. |
“It’s a very human story, a deeply human story. It’s about the human frailties. It’s about climbing up and falling down and climbing back up. It’s about recovery. It’s about addiction. It’s about finding yourself in the midst of chaos, the man being in prison as long as he had.” |
Sheen, an advocator for freedom on the airwaves says Petey’s no nonsense way of telling it like it is rubbed off on the people around him. |
“The energy of the piece is the humanity of it. He’s so broken and yet he’s so energetic and so deeply human so that his flaws become positive. And it’s infectious. You can’t be around the guy without wanting to be like him. Your envious of him, that he’s so free.” |
Martin is an avid fan of talk radio. His favorite show is Prairie Home Companion, hosted by Garrison Keillor, whom he considers the greatest storyteller we’ve ever had. Talk to Me opens Friday in theaters. |
