HARRY POTTER VILLAINESS SPELLS TROUBLE FOR HOGWARTS
Imelda Staunton is the evil villainous at Hogwarts School. |
Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix cast a midnight spell on audiences taking in $12 million in their sneak Wednesday screening. Imelda Staunton may have been responsible for the magic as she plays Dolores Umbridge, Hogwarts School newest recruit to teach Defense Against The Dark Arts. |
Umbridge is evil personified in pink couture. Her goal is to take over Hogwarts, turning it into a nightmare school. |
“She’s doing her job though. She’s in there for a mission and of course does believe she’s doing it for the good of the ministry and for the good of Hogwarts and she doesn’t want chaos. She wants it all clean and neat and tidy and sort of cleansed, a most terrifying word. And she’ll stop at nothing in order to make that happen.” |
Imelda says making Umbridge as wicked as possible while seeming believable was her greatest challenge. |
“It is a difficult line to tread because you don’t want to be a caricature. You don’t want to be too ludicrous. It’s got to be believable otherwise you don’t take her seriously and the threat isn’t there and then nothing matters. So we really worked hard at making sure that she was believably nice and believably not so nice.” |
Imelda helped design her pink wardrobe and jokes she might start the Umbridge fashion line. Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix opens Friday in theaters nationwide. |
