ASHANTI WORKING ON NEW ALBUM

Ashanti releases first official single from the Declaration.

Ashanti is currently putting the finishing touches on her new album, The Declaration, which will hit stores in October. The first single from the project is “Switch” featuring Nelly. The album will feature production by Jermaine Dupri, L.T. Hutton, Babyface, and Polow Da Don.

The singer shared why she decided to title the album, The Declaration. She said,

“Well basically The Declaration because I feel like it’s a sense of freedom. With this album, I kinda I’m taking the lead with everything. I’m kind of like steering my own ship. I’m doing everything on my own. I have a label that I’m developing under Universal as well. And it’s just a big year for me. I feel really, really excited about the album coming in October. Single, we just picked the single. We’re very, very excited about it, Universal, Sylvia Rhone. So it’s a wonderful thing. It’s a good feel.”

Ashanti’s last release was 2004’s Concrete Rose.
