THE TEN STARS SHALT BREAK THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Paul Rudd is acting as kind of a Greek chorus narrating the 10 sketches of the Ten Commandments which have been comically reinterpreted by Reno 911 alumnus Ken Marino and David Wain in The Ten. |
Paul’s character is married to Famke Janssen and breaks the seventh Commandment Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery by cheating on her with Jessica Alba. |
“We didn’t know each other so that’s always kind of weird when you meet somebody and then you kiss them. That’s always weird like that ever happens. It happens if you’re an actor sometimes but it doesn’t happen in life. I think if that did happen in life the world would be a much better place. If that happened in real life we wouldn’t be at war within Iraq.” |
Writers David Wain and Ken Marino were clueless about the ten tablets before they started writing the script. |
“If you had asked me to name the Ten Commandments a year ago I would’ve said, ‘no I can’t.’ Now I know most of them. Ken: I learned about the commandments through watching this movie. David: That’s why we made the movie actually to get school children mostly underage to really become more familiar with what the commandments are. Ken: Mostly underage, but some of age.” |
The Ten reunites the sketch players from MTV’s The State, and also features Gretchen Mol, Liev Schrieber and Oliver Platt opening Friday in theaters. |
