JACKIE CHAN CLIMBS EIFFEL TOWER
Jackie Chan performs a daredevil stunt in Rush Hour 3, climbing the Eiffel Tower. |
No special effects were needed for martial arts master Jackie Chan who scales the outside of the Eiffel Tower in Paris for the climactic scene in Rush Hour 3. Jackie says he’s always prided himself in taking on stunts that only he can do. |
Jackie talks about how he braved the tallest structure in Paris which is about 81 stories high just so he could share his accomplishments with his grandchildren. |
“Everybody take the elevator going up. I was outside the elevator. See I always do some cool things and normal people could not do it. I’m by myself on top of the tower. Jackie do you want to come down? No, no let’s shoot. But after the night I know the movie, the clip can keep forever and I can tell my grandchildren that’s your grandfather. That’s me, that’s not a double flying between the Eifel Tower, yes!’” |
Director Brett Ratner discusses how the Eiffel Tower sequence makes Rush Hour 3 bigger and better than the first two |
“We wanted to top the first two movies and that means getting a bigger action set piece, the set where we chose the Eiffel Tower because we wanted something that was so spectacular. I didn’t even know we were gonna get permission to shoot there and we actually got permission to shoot on the Eiffel Tower. I think that’s gonna deliver as far as expectations, audience expectations of how we’re gonna top the first two. Rush Hour 2 was a much bigger film than the first Rush Hour. I think this is even much bigger than both of them combined.” |
Jackie won’t be impressing his hometown fans in China anytime soon as Rush Hour 3 has been banned from being shown there due to some concern about the depiction of Chinese gangsters. |
