RED CAFE WILL FINALLY GET HIS SHOT
Red Cafe hooks up with Akon’s Konvict label…… |
Brooklyn-based rapper Red Cafe recently signed a deal with Akon’s Konvict Music label. Cafe, who is currently featured on Ray Lavender’s smash “My Girl Got A Girlfriend,” is currently working on his major label debut, The Shakedown, which will hit stores later this year. The album wil feature guest appearances by Bone Thugs N Harmony, Akon, Tyrese, Remy Ma, and Fabolous. |
Red Cafe has been through his share of label drama. He explained, |
“You know timing is everything and sometimes you just get into it at the wrong time. And that’s what happened with a few of my situations. I just go in at the wrong time. You know people was making their exits. The people that believed in me and understood my project. You know from Violator, when Violator got let off of Def Jam. Then over to Arista, when they let LA Reid go. You know what I mean, he signed me. Then over to Capitol, Andrew Schatt, he stepped down. Then back to Universal, my man Tone, he stepped down. So those are the people that signed me that believed in me. That understood the project. That understood I’m straight from the hood and I’m not gonna compromise myself. I’m gonna give you raw hip hop music.” |
In related news, Red Cafe will release a joint project with DJ Envy titled, The Co-op, on September 25th. The album features guest appearances by Jermaine Dupri, Fabolous, Nina Sky, Fat Joe, Styles P, Sheek Louch, Paul Wall, and others. The first two singles from the project are “Dolla Bill” featuring Fabolous and Jermaine Dupri and “Things You Do” featuring Nina Sky. |
