WHODINI LEADS NEW CLASS OF HIP HOP HONORS
Whodini, Snoop Dogg, Andre Harrell, Missy Elliott, and Teddy Riley lead new class of Hip Hop Honorees….. |
Brooklyn-based rap trio Whodini is among several acts which will be honored at this year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors. The show is scheduled to air on October 8th at 10:00 p.m. and will be hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Tracy Morgan. This year’s other honoreees include Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliott, Teddy Riley, Andre Harrell, and the movie Wild Style which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. |
Whodini’s Grandmaster Dee was confident while entering last year’s Hip Hop Honors that Whodini would get their turn soon. He said, |
“It seems like they’re forgetting about us but I dont worried about that because God has blessed us, when it comes, it comes. We’re on tour right now. I’m off this week. We just came in from California. We just did Tennessee State against FAMU, we performed at half time. So we’re off this week, next week we’ll be at Howard homecoming and I think Whodini will be next year. I heard it’s not going in order so I don’t know. But I really feel that if you gonna do it, you do it the right way. It’s gonna happen. It;s gonna be good. I’m not mad at nobody.” |
In related news, the Roots’ Questlove and VH-1 have partnered for an online competition titled “The Score,” which will allow aspiring producer to submit beats that could become the official soundtrack for this year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors. Producers can post 60-second beats at thescore.vh1.com and three finalists will be selected by the judges. |
