Chrisette Michele and Four Kings Production to battle it out in court….. |
Soul singer Chrisette Michele is currently promoting her debut album, I Am, and touring with Musiq Soulchild but earlier this summer she filed a lawsuit against Four Kings Production alleging that the company mismanaged her funds and advances. According to Four Kings Production CEO Douglas “Biggs” Ellison the allegations are way off based and his company is responsible for Michele’s signing to Island Records as well as securing a publishing deal. |
Ellison said in a released statement, “As Chrisette Michele’s manager, I negotiated Chrisette’s six-figure contracts with Island Def Jam, EMI April Music and SESAC. The combined deals totaled over a million dollars, and closed within three months of each other. The Island Def Jam deal was closed in only four days. The allegations of any wrongdoings against Chrisette on my company’s behalf are shocking. Four Kings Productions invested an abundance of time and resources to the growth and success of Chrisette Michele, playing a very instrumental role in Chrisette’s artistic and overall career development. We appreciate the support of her fans and the media’s embracing of Chrisette Michele. We are proud and ecstatic that she is being recognized as the star we always knew she was. We will continue to show Chrisette Michele unwavering support and work hard behind her projects, and we look forward to a speedy resolution.” |
“I sent out a demo to every record label in New York City and Def Jam was kind enough to look into their boxes of things and find Chrisette Michele. They came and had me sing for them two weeks after they found my demo. I auditioned for Mr. LA Reid. He signed me that very day. So it was kind of a short but quick journey.” |
