Foxy Brown sent to jail for violating terms of probation…. |
Rapper Foxy Brown is behind bars after a judge found her guilty of violating the terms of her probation. On Wednesday, August 22st, Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson ruled that the rapper violated the terms of her probation because of her recent arrest for allegedly assaulting her neighbor with a BlackBerry cell phone last month and for leaving the jurisdiction of New York without court permission. |
The rapper, who is currently being held at the all-women Rose M. Singer Center at Rikers Island prison, was placed on three years probation last year for assaulting two manicurists in 2004. The earliest Brown could get out of prison is her next court date on September 7th but she could be forced to serve a full year behind bars. |
“Foxy Brown has done no wrong and we want to make sure now that the facts come out so that she can continue her career. Everybody is waiting for her album to be completed. She’s a great talent and that what she wants to be about and not have to be drug back and forth into court because of false allegations or circumstances that other people take advantage of when they see her celebrity and see her talent.” |
Brown’s latest run-in with the law came last week on Wednesday, August 15th, when she was stopped for talking on a cell phone and failing to stop at a stop sign in New Jersey. She gave officers false information and it was later discovered that her license was suspended. She was given seven traffic tickets and released. |
In addition to the BlackBerry incident and the traffic stop, Brown is still facing charges in Florida for allegedly spitting and throwing glue on the owner of a beauty supply store. The case is slated to go to trial next month. |
Despite all of these issues, the Hip Hop Summit Action Network has stood by the rapper. The organization’s president, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, publicly expressed his support during a news conference earlier this year. He said, |
