MYA MAY BE HEADING TO BROADWAY

R&B singer Mya may be heading to Broadway. New York’s Daily News reports that Chicago casting director, Duncan Stewart, checked the singer out at a party she hosted last weekend to see if she had the right stuff. Stewart helped Usher and Ashlee Simpson land their roles in the Broadway staple.

Mya shared that she’s been working on her acting with a coach. The singer said,

“Yeah I’ve been doing some independent films. And I really got to follow through with what I wanted to do with acting. I’m really taking my time and I’ve been studying with a coach out in California when I am there. Ted Brunetti, so he teaches me different methods, improvisation, all kinds of things. That’s been really comforting to me to know that when I walk in auditions or castings that I know how to break it down for myself and really get into character. You know even if I’m having a bad day, I’m somebody else. So that’s been truly helpful even when I’m on stage.”

In related news, Mya’s Liberation which has been delayed several times in now scheduled for release on October 23rd. The latest single from the project is “Ridin’.”The album features guest appearances by Lil Wayne and The Game with production by Scott Storch, Jonathon Rotem, Tricky Stewart, and Kwame. Mya co-wrote most of the material on the album.
