REESE WITHERSPOON NOT POLITICAL, JUST CURIOUS

Reese Witherspoon was fascinated by the subject matter of Rendition, but is not interested in the politics of the film.

Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon who lives in America and is married to American actor Ryan Phillippe was curious about playing a woman married to a Muslim man who is subjected to scrutiny simply because of his nationality in Rendition.

Reese says detaining someone who is innocent without a proper trial doesn’t feel like the American way, and wanted to enlighten audiences who may not be aware that rendition exists.

“I’m really excited to be part of something that’s bringing something to light that I think maybe not a lot of people know about. A practice that is going on that on one hand seems to be completely dictated by the climate that we live in at this point but on the other hand is completely unacceptable with it’s repercussions and method of doing so. It just doesn’t seem altogether American.”

Reese says she’d rather leave her personal politics out of it and hopes the movie speaks for itself.

“I’m not in politics and I can’t even imagine what that would be like to have that kind of responsibility in your life to maintain national security. But I think there’s always two sides to every coin and I hope that this movie shows both.”

Next Reese is onto much lighter fare in the comedy Four Christmases co-starring Vince Vaughn.
